Why preparation matters

The substrate decides how the floor performs

The quality of a flooring installation depends on more than the material on the surface. Flat, sound, clean and appropriately dry substrates are what allow a floor or coating to perform as the manufacturer intends.

Preparation is included in our installation projects and is also available as a standalone service.

  • FlatA flat substrate is what keeps a finished floor from telegraphing highs and dips.
  • SoundLoose, hollow or damaged areas are repaired before anything is installed over them.
  • CleanOld adhesive, coatings, fasteners and grinding dust come off before the new floor goes down.
  • Appropriately dryMoisture-related preparation is carried out where the material and the slab require it.
