About water resistance

Waterproof planks, prepared substrates

Many luxury vinyl products have waterproof planks or cores, which is one reason they are chosen for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and rental units.

A waterproof plank does not make the whole installation or the subfloor waterproof. Seams, transitions and the substrate still matter, which is why preparation and the installation method are specified for each project.

What to expect

How a vinyl project runs

Walkthrough and written estimate, removal of existing flooring, substrate preparation and leveling, installation to the product's method, trim and transitions, and a final walkthrough.

Walkthrough and written estimate

We look at the rooms and the existing floor, discuss the options, and provide a clear written scope and price.

Removal of existing flooring

The existing floor is removed and disposed of, along with old adhesive and fasteners.

Substrate preparation and leveling

High spots are ground down and low spots are filled so the plank lands on a flat plane.

Installation

Floating or glue-down, installed to the method the product and the room require.

Trim and transitions

Baseboards, quarter round and thresholds are set as part of the job.

Final walkthrough

We review the completed work with you, confirm the space is clean, and answer any questions.
