Substrate and waterproofing

Tile depends on what is under it

The substrate is checked for flatness and soundness and prepared as needed, and showers and wet areas receive the appropriate waterproofing membrane and system before any tile is set.

Preparation is specified from what the walkthrough finds, not from a standard assumption about the room.

  • Substrate checked firstFlatness and soundness are read before any tile is set.
  • Waterproofing where requiredShowers and wet areas receive the membrane system appropriate to the build.
  • Layout plannedLayout, grout lines and transitions are worked out before the first tile goes down.
